- DESIGN EDITOR. Responsible for design of daily news pages. Duties regularly included booking of the A-section in coordination with the editorial production editor, the foreign, national, metro and business desks and photo and graphics departments. Also posted to the Times website using Assembler.

- NIGHT EDITOR for the California section design desk. Helped facilitate coordination with the zone editions as well as photo, graphics, copy desk and city desk. Regularly designed section pages. Occasionally filled in as evening exec on the A1 desk.

- EXECUTIVE NEWS EDITOR for the Valley and Ventura County editions. Managed 22 news and copy editors, and oversaw the photo staff and art department. Chaired morning and evening news meetings, reviewed all page design and handled production needs. Regularly worked downtown as night executive news editor and served as liaison between Valley/Ventura and downtown on issues and projects, including pagination and redesign.

- NEWS EDITOR for startup of the Ventura County edition. Helped establish standards and procedures for the edition and guided it through its eventual split into East and West editions. Designed daily cover and inside news pages. In 1995, became news editor for the Valley edition.
